Clears - Wall of Stoke.

A commission for a friend, Mark ‘Clears’ Cleary — an award-winning builder from the Mornington Peninsula whose life theory is ‘it’s all about getting away.’ One of his favourite quotes, mind you: without family, travel, culture, food, surfing, skiing or bushwalking, working hard isn’t worth it. You can’t do one without the other.

The painting is positioned in his workshop, where his art is made, to remind himself and his crew there’s light at the end of the tunnel. I call the painting ‘It’s All About Getting Away.’ Mark calls it his ‘Wall of Stoke’ — which is probably the better title.
