Melbourne Bar - Australian Open.

A commission for the Australian Open, built around the streets of Melbourne — the pockets and corners in particular. What an honour. Drawing the architecture of a city as I move through it is something I’ve done for years: find a spot, sit, observe, draw, and talk to whoever wanders past.

The brief handed me exactly that — architectural sketches of Melbourne — but with a twist: they couldn’t feel like walls. Punters needed to stay free to move through the tournament, not boxed in or sectioned off. So we cut the sketches loose from the page and turned them into freestanding sculptural forms instead — something you walk around, not something that walls you in. More interaction, more energy.
